Duke's Beach House (Hawaii, US)

Staying at the Honua Kai Resort in Lahaina, eating at Duke's for at least one of our meals was a given. We stopped by for breakfast and we weren't disappointed.

Tropical Fruit Smoothie
I ordered a Tropical Fruit Smoothie which was fresh banana with orange, mango & passion juices. It was thick and sweet, but tasted very natural (ie. little to no sugar added).

For our meals, we ordered a Duke's Breakfast Sandwich, a Paniolo, a Bikini Benedict and a Ham and Cheese Omelet from the Keiki menu for H.

Duke's Breakfast Sandwich
Duke's Breakfast Sandwich - slow roasted pork, Lahaina egg, pepper jack, Hawaiian sweet bread. This sandwich definitely earns its name. The pork was so soft and tender (maybe because of all the juicy fat layers) and all the ingredients add to the taste and texture of the sandwich. Although the bread looks thick and heavy, it was actually very soft and improved the overall package.

Paniolo Omelet - ham, pepper jack, avocado-tomato & chipotle salsa. I didn't try this one myself but it was described as "good".

Paniolo Omelet
Bikini Benedict
Bikini Benedict - spinach, vine ripened tomatoes, macadamia nut pesto hollandaise. Jo had this dish and she really liked it. She's a sucker for eggs benedict though, so keep that in mind.
Ham & Cheese Omelet

Service wasn't bad, but we had a tough time finding our server on occasion. The restaurant wasn't very busy. It was probably a quarter full at the time, but they only had a few servers so we had to wait for a table. The location of the restaurant is great. It's right by the beach and they have an open patio as well. I'm not sure what parking would be like for those who aren't guests of the hotel, so I can't comment on that. I don't recall seeing any visitor parking spots, so keep that in mind.

Summary
Food: Very good. Duke's Breakfast Sandwich was very delicious and I definitely recommend it.

Service: Average. There wasn't anything special about the service. A one quarter full restaurant and hard-to-find servers isn't very impressive.

Setting: Good. No idea about parking, but the restaurant is right on the beach and there's good view from almost every table.

Value: Good. Despite being right on the beach and listed as a fairly pricey restaurant, Duke's was pretty reasonable pricewise for breakfast.
